The website process1. A Quick Start Guide to the Website Process

Here are a few items to think about before you start the website process at Diane’s Web Design.

  • Domain name:  A domain name is a requisite to hosting a website. The domain name should be similar or the same as your business/church name. If you do not have a domain name, you will be able to acquire one here. Read more about Domain Names.
  • Pages: Should your website be on one or more pages?  If you are not proficient at writing, it may be best to go with one page.
  • Content: The information (content) is what you want to be included on the website. If necessary, there are copywriters who do this for a living.
  • Images: Images directly related to your business/church are important to include on the website. Stock images are available if you do not have any.
  • Website: Go online and search for websites similar to your business or church to get an idea of the “look” you prefer. Save the URL addresses to include later on the questionnaire. If you want to skip this step, I will just wing it and show you some mock-ups.

*If you want your website to show up at all on the search engines, there are things you can do. First of all, your content will need to include keyword phrases, although I can adjust the final copy to comply. More suggestions here: organic SEO.

2. Creating your Website

These are the next steps to begin the process of creating your website.

Pay the set-up fee.

  • Website ProcedureTake the online website questionnaire: Church or Business.
  • Provide the information for the website. The content can be edited, grammatically and for keywords. However, the information must come from you.
  • Provide images that you want on the website, along with the copy, and send via email or through DropBox. (Stock photos are also available if you do not have images.)
  • You will  be informed of the process as the website is being developed
  • Once the site is finished and ready to go live, you will be required to pay the hosting/maintenance fee yearly or starting with the first month.

If for some reason, you cannot get all of the information to Diane’s Web Design in a timely manner, for the site to be finished, the yearly/monthly fee will be required after one month to keep the site hosted and maintained.

*If paying yearly for unlimited editing, a $20.00 discount will be applied. If the yearly fee is NOT paid by the date due then there will be no discount. After 2 weeks of non-payment, the website will go offline.

Hopefully, this guideline to the Website Procedure at Diane’s Web Design will help you prepare in advance.
